Welcome! To the Blog Party! Are you ready to have some fun?
Be sure to head on over and check out our Star Studded line-up for this week and next! And don’t forget to check the Party Guidelines!
I have a VERY special treat for you today! To get this Party started right, Jen from Tatertots and Jello is here to kick it off!
Hello Blog Partyers!
Hi — I’m Jen from Tatertots and Jello
and I am so excited to be here!
I’d love to share an easy craft you can do with things that are around your house! I spent the weekend at my sister’s house last weekend. Of course I wanted to craft. So we looked around her house for some supplies and we made some flower headbands out of old shirts.
This is what you need:
- Stretchy Headbands (I bought a package from Target – there were 12 in a package for under $5)
- Old shirts or clothes from your donation pile
- Felt or other heavier fabric. Denim would work too
- Do dads — like scrapbooking flowers, brads, jewels or old buttons
- Other materials like netting from onions or oranges, tulle, whatever you can find
- Glue Gun
- First we cut a few old tee shirts and other material up into strips. You can use old shirts, old clothes or any fabric scraps you have laying around. I also used some onion netting so I cut some circles out of that too.
2. Cut out three different sizes of circles. I used my Big Shot machine (My husband got it for me for our anniversary — he’s so sweet). But you don’t need one. You can use regular scissors. If you double up the material, it doesn’t take so long to cut the circles out.
3. Now is the fun part – putting the flowers together. Have fun – get creative.
If you like more volume in your flower, you can take the biggest size, lay it out flat. Then take four of the medium size circles, and fold each one in quarters. Lay each of the quarters on top of the bottom circle, so they form a circle. Hot glue those onto the bottom flower. Then add the smallest size circle to the top. And then layer on top of that an old button, or a scrapbooking flower, or even a circle cut out of paper with a brad through it.
You can make the flowers in any size you like. We made some with smaller flowers. And some with a few flowers on one headband.
My niece just got her Drivers Permit, and in my sister’s fabric stash we found a little piece of material with traffic signs. So we thought it would be funny to make a Driving School headband that she can wear during her driving lessons. She liked it so much that she made one for her friend too!
4. The last thing you do is hot glue a circle of felt to the back of your flower. And then hot glue the felt backing to the headband.
This is a fun craft to do with your girls on a rainy Summer afternoon.
Or maybe with your girlfriends one weekend!
Thanks for letting me come by for the big party! It was a blast!
Thanks so much Jen! That headband looks super cute!
Now it’s your turn! Share your craft or DIY project!

Good luck on your new blog! I just started a new Let’s Party series today. We are focused on Hospitality this month. Today’s topic is greeting guests. I linked up the post because I share a unique door decor idea.

Those headbands are great! I’m not much of a headband person, but I might change my mind if my headband was that cute!
