Fall Fest 2011

Friday, September 16th, 2011

Fall is in the air and the time is here to celebrate all that is Fall!

Over the next few weeks we’ll be hosting parties to showcase all that is Fall, from decorating your home for the season to feeding the crew during the chilly days of autumn. And we haven’t forgotten a Fall favorite on mine… Apples, I’ve even dedicated an entire party just for it.

So Let’s get the ball rolling with a few of our favorites from last year…

I just loved how this  Fall Mantle from Hoosier Homemade turned out with the assortment of gourds and pumpkins and Mr. Scarecrow has been in our family for sometime now and has seen many Autumns.

And this Frugal Fall Decorating idea from Linda’s Lunacy is perfect for a quiet get together.

I hope this inspires you to join us as we start our celebration, also be sure to follow us on facebook and twitter so you won’t be missing out on our daily highlights during the party.

Thanks again for sharing and I would appreciate a link back so we can highlight you.

Thought we would highlight a couple of the fashion posts from last week, because who doesn’t like new clothes, and if you can make them yourself what a frugal pick me up before spring.

First up from Sew much Ado is this detailed tuturioal for a Maxi Skirt

And for a splash of color you could make a scarf like the one from Love Being in My Southern Kitchen shared…

What have you made for yourself lately?

Don’t forget to share with your friends at the other linky parties today.

Show-Me-How 2.28.11 New Beginning

Monday, February 28th, 2011

As February comes to a close it is natural to look ahead to the beginning of Spring. I have always felt that this is a natural time to spruce things up. With winter coming to a close and the prospect of renewed growth.

But it is still early to be able to do much outside so we tend to work on the interior of our house at this time. I’m glad that I was able to get some inspiration from the following DIY’s shared last week.

Thanks again for the inspiration and don’t forget to join the other Monday Parties happening at the other blogs.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Living near Lake Michigan affords us many recreational opportunities throughout the year. However it’s that time of year here in northwest Indiana when the weather turns out of the north that we get what they call lake-effect snow. For those not familiar with this phenomenom let me explain, with the wind blowing over the lake it can turn on a snow making machine that at times has been known to give us a foot or more of snow in one storm.

When we get snow like this around this time of year it puts us in the Christmas mood. So I thought I would share a few ideas from the Home for the Holidays Party that have been shared so far.

Skiing Penguin Ornaments from Suzy’s Artsy-Craftsy Sitcom

Snowman Holiday Ornaments made by KidsWonderArt

Christmas Mantel from Organize and Decorate Everything

I’m so excited for Christmas this year! Be sure to check out all of the GREAT ideas on the Home for the Holidays Party and add your own too!
